Introducing: The Kyteman Orchestra
One of Europe's biggest Cult phenomenon's announce their first UK show.
Some exciting news coming out of The Kyteman Orchestra camp, one of the most exciting and unique musical collectives to arguably ever emerge from Europe, as they have just announced they will play in the UK for the very first time at London’s Islington Academy on this coming Wednesday 13th June.
Its fair to say as musical experiences go, The Kyteman Orchestra is a totally unique musical offering unlike anything you’ve ever seen or heard before. The group was founded in The Netherlands and consists of an eighteenpiece orchestra, four opera singers and a choir, led by its founder Colin Benders, aka Kyteman.
Its not often you hear of an 18 strong group of musicians, opera singers, and a choir, who are inspired by hip-hop, drum and bass, electro, and minimalism but thats exactly what The Kyteman Orchestra are about as they endevour to create and perform songs with a captivating blend of hip-hop and classical music, and the group have gained a cult following of hardcore fans across Europe as a result.
The brainchild behind The Kyteman Orchestra is Colin Benders. After the release of his debut album The Hermit Sessions in 2009, which held its position in the Top Five of the Dutch Album Charts for over two years, he founded The Kyteman Orchestra in order to best replicate the full impact and power of the music live on stage. The group has performed all over the world, and were hand picked by none other than Geordie legend Sting to support his 2010 show in Holland.
It was in 2011 when Kyteman brought his orchestra back together, added new members and gave it a new name: The Kyteman Orchestra. They have since recorded a new album at Kytopia, where “The Kyteman Orchestra” is set for release in March 2012 in the Netherlands. Kyteman was determined that the co-operation between the orchestra and himself would be different than with the previous album.
“On this album, I wanted to provide the orchestra with a completely new challenge and at the same time try to find the limits of the vocalists and myself. It has been a tough ride, but I can truly say that I am really proud of the result.”
In the upcoming months The Kyteman Orchestra will be performing at many festivals and stages, such as the North Sea Jazz Festival and Lowlands. As well as planning an international tour in 2013, be the first to see them as they play London's intimate Islington Academy this wednesday.
