•Round Up – July•

It’s been a busy busy month for ATB and music in general. All the interest surrounding Frank Ocean and his sexuality, the hype around the latest Nas album and late comers to the month TNGT with their club stomping EP. All these artists feature in our round up and here’s our picks from them: 

Fank Ocean – Album  - Pink Matter

Lets all ignore the is-he isn’t he questions over his sexual preference, Channel Orange is a huge RnB album and provided us with plenty to talk about and plenty to take in. Amongst; Sweet Life, Bad Religion and Pyramids, Pink Matter was a stand out track. Smooth and sexy the track gets one upped by Andre 3000 with the smoothest flow and tight lyrics. 3 Stacks proves he is still the biggest innovator in the game not only on Pink matter but also on Sixteen where his verse absolutely blows Rick Ross out of the water. Ignore the rather flimsy guitar solo he contributes, Andre please release some new material.

Nas –Loco-Motive

Life is Good is Nas’ 10^th studio album and also provided one of the more uplifting hip-hop related # trends on twitter. What did we expect from Nas? Greatness. And he delivered. It was a toss up between Locomotive and Cherry Wine featuring the late Amy Winehouse, but Loco-Motive  features an real old school beat and is for those who love that 90’s hip-hop sound.  

TNGT – Higher Ground

TNGT is the collaborative name for Hudson Mohawke & Lunice and at the end of the month they released a  5 track EP featuring some bass heavy club bangers. Somewhere between Trap and Bass mixed with 808’s the EP is a force to be reckoned with. Higher Ground is our pick from the EP, listen to that heavy bassline.

They are playing at the new Warehouse projects and check that line up!

Disclosure – Control Joe Godard remix – Hot Chip dude and all-round genius remix master takes on the Disclosure monster that is Control. Hot off the remix version of The Face EP, this will be doing the rounds.

Rick Ross – 16 – Purly for the feature from Andre 3000.  

Bondax – Baby I Got That – Is there anything stopping this duo?  Single out on the 26^th of August but all over soundcloud and Youtube. Sick sampling on display and uplifting chords. Summer arrived. 

Say My Name – Cyril Hahn remix – Free download on the soundcloud. If you haven’t heard this yet get on it, a reimagining of the Destiny’s Child classic and its blinding.
