Azealia Banks - 1991 [VIDEO]
It took a long time coming, but Azealia Banks' '1991' EP was definitely worth the wait. the year in question is the tattoo in Roman numerals on her left shoulder and the year of her birth, so its fair to say its a fairly important year for the 212 star. More so it's also the name of her mixtapes fourth and final video selection, with visuals that pay stylish tribute to the hip-house, pop, and R&B clips from the flyest era of Urban music, the early '90s.
From the long baggy trousers to the colour filter over the top of the video, for anyone that remembers Aaliyah in her heyday or even the early era of Missy Elliot director Justin Mitchell has come up with a concept that puts '1991' right up there with the already classic visuals for '212'. The increasing budgets and with it the glamour of these video's are definitely rocketing Banks' profile and given the female rap market a much needed boost, with Brooklyn rapper Angel Haze now making strides in the scene also.
With Miss Banks releasing her debut album 'Broke With Expensive Taste' on February 11 of next year, she will also embark on an 11-date headline tour of the UK this autumn but in the meantime, check out Banks in all her glory below.
