Spotlight on: Two Inch Punch

So Ben Ash aka Two Inch Punch (aka TIP) is my flavor of the week.

It was by chance that I stumbled upon TIP, a guy I don’t know that well on facebook posted one of his videos and being intrigued by the name (Two Inch Punch – Digital Love Letters) I clicked on the video and was beyond delighted that I did so. I should perhaps thank the guy, but a few days have past now and it may look odd to go back and make a comment. But this is neither here nor there now as I am in a current musical trance with TIP.

It escapes me how Two Inch Punch has passed me by for so long, he has produced tracks with Jessie Ware and has remixed the likes of Metronomy and Lianne La Havas. He is also highly comparable to everyone’s favorite maximalist Rustie of whom I am a huge fan, so this post is embarrassingly long over due.

I have been playing his Saturn: The Slow Jams EP which came out in July and fundamentally highlights his talents as a producer. Plenty of bouncy bass, two step beats, pitch altering and huge syths, Saturn: The Slow Jams is certainly a fantastic EP. He defines himself as Lovestep, of which we published a feature on last year, which fits. His music is bass heavy and possibily comparable to the likes of Bobby Tank but all his tracks have this elated romantic tinge to them with a chilled out dubstep vibe.

- Recommend Tracks-

Digital Love Letters – A majestic pitch altered symphony, also the track that got me into TIP. Taken from Saturn: The Slow Jams EP

Birdy – People help the people (TIP’s Sunken Hearts Rework) - A laidback romantic groover taking Birdy’s haunting vocals and adding bubbly bass and synth.

Paint it Red feat. Mikky Ekko – Also from Saturn: The Slow Jams EP A bass heavy track with that Lovestep vibe.
