John Bear - For Real
Sometimes you hear a track that takes you back a bit. A track that almost touches a nerve with the sheer quality of its production and in this case, a young producer from Leeds has managed to achieve the highest accolade and get everyone at AboutToBlow head bopping in joyous unison.
Not much is know about John Bear nor is there much that can be unveeled to us other than what he's uploaded to his Soundcloud page, but from what's out there its mightily impressive. With a style rather reminiscent to Cyril Hahn's 'Say My Name' or Pedestrian & Maribou State's infectious 'Doo Wop' refix released early last year, 'For Real' blends together emotive R&B sampling with infectious shuffle kicks that can be enjoyed under any kind of mood. Those atmospheric vocals slowly echo into the forefront whilst the almost haunted percussion drops out in favour of a euphoric drop that pervades a feelgood factor throughout its duration.
Over the last 12 months what emerging producers like Kidnap Kid, Disclosure, Karma Kid & Fort Romeau amongst others have done is begin to master a completely new sound that aspiring producers have now latched on to. This is no bad thing, and it wouldn’t be surprising if this becomes the sound that 2013 will be remembered for.
In the meantime this ones due for release on the Fhinq Music label in the next week so keep an eye out for the official drop.
