2019 is a year where we’ve had an influx of some incredible Neo-Soul with the majority coming from London.
If you’re looking for smooth, deep soul music with a heritage rooted firmly in the big smoke.. Hackney songwriter Amahla has to be high on your list. Her first solo project ‘Consider This’ saw her pick up support from the likes of BBC Radio 1Xtra, Complex UK and London In Stereo. She also sold out two live shows in her home town, as well as grabbing a feature slot with Drum and Bass legends The Brookes Brothers.
She’s since returned with a number of videos and a brand new single ‘Have Mercy’. It’s a track that takes Amahla to the next level on production, with a full, detailed sound and epic chorus. On the new single she states
“Have Mercy is a conversation between two people about social progress. Both tackling with the assumption that things get better with time. Have Mercy is about the need to interrogate why we’re still fighting for the same rights we did 50 years ago.”
