Although only his second full solo release, Danny George has been quietly amassing an impressive list of production credits for numerous tipped artists such as Ayelle, Malory, Latir and most recently LOLÉ on her track ‘Thoughts Of Us’ – culminating in some serious listening numbers.
As an artist in his own right, he returns with this track ‘Say Something’ which sees him move into a more epic soundspace, following his sparser more electro-ladened debut ‘Close To You’. This time teaming up with Irish vocalist Darren Morgan, who adds some Sam Smith-esque depth to the beat with his stunning soulful performance, the pair make for a killer pairing. Based loosely on recent break ups, the pair explain:
Darren: “She controls the situation, knowing you love her but leaves as she know that what really hurts, but it’s happening far too often, and is become a little tiring, and repetitive. And you just left waiting for her to come back around like she always does”
Danny: “We wrote the track in one session after a conversation about previous relationships. We both had just ended a long relationship quite recently. The idea was that we couldn’t stop going back even though we knew shouldn’t.”
With an obvious flair for using live instrumentation alongside some rock solid programming, Danny George has certainly got some tekkers in the studio.
