London based DJ, Deeper Purpose (aka Stevie) has delivered his brilliantly dynamic new release, titled ‘Safari’,a brooding dancefloor destroyer made in unison with forward-thinking producer, Intrusive.
Having played at a wide range of the UK’s biggest underground clubs, including Egg, Cable, and fabric, the South Londoner displays his cleverly crafted production talents across the track, utilising a deep after-hours bassline, and rasping chord patterns which thunder into life under the delicate layers of the gruff vocal sample.
Ahead of a set of tour dates, we asked the rising DJ to share some of his favourite summer festival tracks.
Deeper Purpose, Intrusive – Safari (Original Mix) - Well it was always going to be a clear choice that my own track Safari would be my top pick for the summer anthems playlist. When we wrote the hook we just knew it was going to be one of those that, once you hear it once it just sticks in your head.
Secondcity & George Smeddles – ILanga – The second track on here is by a good friend of mine George Smeddles who’s a very talented guy, who has teamed up with Secondcity on this one. This is there second collaboration together and the tracks get better and better. The tribal vocal on this track and the groove and vibe of the whole tune you can’t find fault. It just makes you want to get up and dance. I can see this getting played out a lot over the summer by a lot of DJ’s and being heard on a lot of dancefloors.
Jansons & Senzala ‘JNZ’ – The third track on here is by Jansons, I first heard Richy Ahmed play a while ago and was trying to find out what it was for ages. Made my day once I got hold of it. The vocal on this track is just so uplifting and a touch of soul to it. With a driving beat underneath, it has been a key track in my sets.
Filta Freqz ‘Master Blaster’ – The Fourth track ‘Master Blaster’ is a party piece track. It just gets the crowd going every single time. I do love an old track and the samples in this are right up my street. The trumpet in the track as well gives it a proper summer vibe.
Piem – Love Commandments (Alaia & Gallo Remix) – The 5th track Love Commandments is a personal fave, it has such a nice groove when that balling first kicks in. The track instantly lifts the mood in a room the second you play it and its not done there, once the vocal comes in just gets better. It does the job every single time.
Reelow – Amatour Provocateur SGR025- The 6th track from Reelow is one of my favourite artists around at the moment. I have over played this track way to much! Its so upbeat, within the first min of the track your hooked. The groove from the bass line and the skippy percussion just makes you move, combined with the perfect vocal this track is an absolute bomb.. just like all his other tracks.
DJ Oliver – Groove In Puerto Rico- The 7th track is an absolute gem of a track. Bit more of a mellow early hours of the night kind-of track but it sets the tone perfectly. The spoken word vocal on the track is perfect as well.
Roog – Don’t Hold Back (Old Skool Tribute Mix) - The 8th track is a proper peak time crowd hype track. Dropped this a few times and it got everyone going crazy.
12 Stories Feat. Digitaria – Bright Lights (Scurrilous Remix)- The 9th track is an old gem I came across recently. Its a mellow acid kinda vibe track. Wish I had found it sooner. The vocal from Digitaria is spot on. Such a good vibe to this track.
AFXS – Get Some (Bassel Darwish Remix) - the 10th track and final on my summer anthems list is a remix by another favourite producer of mine at the moment Bassel Darwish. This man sure knows how to make a beat. Every single track is a dance floor weapon. He’s absolutely killed it on this remix. The trippy synths in the builds followed up by an infections beat and cool vocal which just sits on the track perfectly.
