Singer-Songwriter Dominic Lawson comes with a wealth of experience under his belt..
Based in Birmingham, the R’n’B songwriter has just dropped his new single ‘Wrap’ – But it’s far from fair to simply present Dominic in this bracket. He’s lent his vocal talents to legendary Hacienda DJ Mike Pickering as well at the AMC Gospel Choir. He’s also worked in the studio with the likes of Laura Mvula and Little Mix.
However, he’s keen to start carving his own corner of the musical spectrum and is releasing his first solo EP later this year. The first track from the release, is the infectious new single ‘Wrap’ and instantly, we can hear his undeniable talent throughout the piece. On the new single he states:
“I wrote ‘Wrap’ with my friend Joe Hazlett, we had the chord sequence on loop and just talked forever. The song came about as we were talking about the woes of being single in our 20s, the dating scene is tough out here! Musically, I wanted an R&B throwback, having grown up on the likes of Destiny’s Child, Black Street, and Boyz II Men, meanwhile SZA’s ‘CTRL’ was playing in the background, so her flow and melodic choices also influenced us – we caught a vibe and just started running off these lines about falling for somebody”.
