At some point, if you’ve ever been exposed to Italian house and techno, all ears are likely to have been exposed to a Supernova production at some stage. Supremely talented DJs as well as producers, the years Emiliano Nencioni and Giacomo Godi have spent in the game so far has seen them forge a fierce reputation both behind the decks and in the studio. The producers have been a constant pulse in Italy’s underground scene, it’s emergence and evolution and thus, have become one of the leading figures to represent it on an international scale.
Having known each other for many years, It was only after a chance encounter at a party in their native Florence that the idea of working on a project came to fruition. Fast forward some 15 years and their CV boasts an endless wealth of celebrated productions, collaborations and remixes that only continues to grow. It’s difficult to overlook and not be impressed by their sizeable discography, or the fact their burgeoning label Lapsus remains an essential platform for four-to-the-floor flavours designed for the dancefloor.
Have firmly established themselves as one of Italy’s prized outfits, their status and knack at crafting exemplary productions has seen notable collaborations with everyone from Kevin Saunderson, Prok & Fitch, Gene Farris & acid supremo DJ Pierre.
With releases on Defected, Toolroom, Cr2, Moon Harbour, Madhouse and Suara, it speaks volumes for the duo’s work rate that despite pushing a large proportion of productions on their long-running imprint, that aforementioned list of labels they’ve worked with doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface.
Behind the decks, their approach is supreme and unrelenting. With almost two decades of experience their irrepressible knack of controlling a dancefloor has seen them play all over the world, including notable appearances at Elrow (Barcelona), Monegros Desert Festival, Ministry Of Sound (London), Cavo Paradiso (Mykonos), Privilege (Ibiza) and Space (Miami) to name but a few.
With fresh releases this month on Nervous Records and Get Physical the guys are showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon, and we here at About To Blow are stoked that the duo thoughtfully entrusted us with this exclusive end of year mix, and as you might expect, it’s a hot one.
We asked Emiliano and Giacomo to introduce the mix, and to tell us a bit about what to expect:
“This brand new mix made live in our studio in Florence includes some of our forthcoming releases like the brand new “Revelation” EP out December 23rd on Lapsus Music and “City Life” EP due on Elrow Music for February 6th 2017. Alongside our productions we’ve added some of the hottest tracks for us at the moment. Enjoy!”
