By all accounts, 2016 has been an extremely satisfying one for Nhan Solo. A recognised force coming out of the underground music melting pot that is Berlin, Nhan’s been on our radars for some time now, with his productions and mixes over the past 12 months becoming mainstays in our collection.
Yet whilst the sound of big-room, industrial techno takes grip of his city, Nhan’s productions are far from a projection of his environment. Having taken a plunge into the music scene in 2012 his pursuit into the house scene quickly drew praise, with his bouncy, percussive, dancefloor-driven productions immediately snapped up by several imprints at the first given opportunity.
With esteemed releases on Andre Crom’s OFF Recordings and Solomon’s 2DIY4 to follow, support from the likes of Roger Sanchez, Kevin Knapp, Audiojack and Purple Disco Manchine ensured Nhan’s tasteful brand of house began to reach the right ears. As his fan base grew, it’s no surprise his own label Mother Recordings began to enjoy similar success.
Tours across the world have followed, with sold out gigs across South America, Asia and Europe wedged in between shows at festivals including Sonar, BPM and ADE. Crucially though, it’s his exuberant and infectious character alongside his tireless work ethic and passion for electronic music which are second to none. His touring schedule only continues to increase whilst maintaining Mother’s progression and his increasingly influential residency for Pioneer Radio.
With this in mind and with so much more to come, we’re thrilled to have the label boss contribute to our series and close out the year with the kind of mix that comes so naturally to him.
Ahead of the mix, we caught up with Nhan himself to find out what to expect:
“For the end of the year I wanted to do something, special, sexy, wonderful! This continous mix includes only Mother (Recordings) tracks from our output in 2016, including tracks from our boys Ordonez, Dilby, Simion, Mat.Joe, David Keno, Martin Waslewski and Superlover.
There’s two exclusive, hot brand new tracks from the signing of Robosonic and birdhouse, newcomers for Sofia. The mix starts smoothly, before accelerating to peak time Tech House #1 David Keno – Moonshine and closing track Mat.Joe´s unreleased slow-mo banger.
This mix tells exactly the savoir of me and reflects my personality, and the brand of House music that never gets to introverted, too gloomy or dark. It’s good feeling House.”
