The Project Already Has Support from Radio 2
Brit School graduate and alt-pop singer songwriter Hedara is fast becoming one of the most exciting names bubbling around the underground music scene in London. Already championed by Dermot O’Leary and Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2 – The new single ‘Skin Deep’ is set to cement her place in the ones to watch category.
Scarlet launched the project this year with her debut EP Slow. The project was a unique blend of electronic elements, folk, pop and piano led songwriting that caught the attention of Clash Magazine, Earmilk, Adidas X Girls Are Awesome and a number of key publications on The Hype Machine. Spotify also supported the release on their Fresh Finds playlist and Jo Whiley was supportive on the airwaves throughout.
The new single ‘Skin Deep’, takes Hedara down a more alt-pop leaning direction. Based on a lush piano chord progression, it’s a powerful rally cry to past loves and regrets.
‘You’re the one finally taking control in a relationship where someone has tried to play you like a puppet on a string, now you’re the one calling the shots. I wanted an anthemic feel to the song, so I took a lot of inspiration from female musicians that I admire like Florence and the Machine, Jessie Ware and Dua Lipa.”
