When it comes to elrow, there’s no getting away from the fact we have supported the movement since day uno. Brainchild of the Arnau family, elrow is the project from a dynasty of elite Spanish promoters, who have forged a legacy over five generations that counts Monegros Desert Festival and Florida 135 amongst their accolades. Famed for creating immersive party themes with elaborate set design, troupes of performers and tons of props, with a soundtrack provided by leading figures in electronic music such as Seth Troxler, Skream, Eats Everything, Jackmaster, Dusky and many more. With an all-new Amnesia residency in Ibiza, their biggest UK endeavour to date is set to be truly spectacular as they takeover London’ Olympic Stadium for 2 sold out dates in August.
Away from the arena, elrow music has been confidently setting the standard and having recently surpassed the 100 releases mark, the label is currently enjoying unprecedented success.
Stepping up to continue the imprint’s rich vein of form is Leftroom Records founder Matt Tolfrey who delivers a beastly, groove-driven weapon of an EP with a peak-time drop very much the name of the game.
Opening the EP is the track naming it, ‘Jazz Hands (Original Mix)’, a song almost without any melody, that starts with a strong percussion, meeting with a backwards vocal line by the middle of the track, giving it its distinct vibe and character.
Then we have a alternative version of the track, ‘No Hands (Original Mix)’, that also starts with strong percussion but accompanied with a distinct effect line that gives the track its own life, making it a true dancefloor killer.
Finally, ‘Beyond The Truth (Original Mix)’ closes the EP, a percussive and danceable tune, with a distinct hi-hat progression and a clearer vocal line, with a flubby melody that will marvel dancers and listeners alike.
All in all, Matt Tolfrey has delivered a truly remarkable EP, with a great percussive palette, that will be heard in many dancefloors this summer, adding one of the strongest artist of the genre to elrow Music’s Hall of Fame.
