UK Cult-Band The Pocket Gods may be the most unlucky band of the last couple of decades.
It was just a week after discovering the band, that the legendary John Peel passed away. If that’s not enough, Manchester & Factory Records giant Tony Wilson came across the band & died soon after. Their former manager Steve Blacknall, also suffered a near fatal asthma attack soon after taking the band on.
That said, they’ve done decidedly well for themselves despite the setbacks. The band have gone on to bag themselves a Guinness World Record for the most tracks ever on a recorded album. As well as receiving legitimate musical praise from the likes of Billboard, Clash music & Steve Lamacq on the latest album.
Our favourite track has to be this one though, that reaches back into the late 80’s in Manchester for a piece of Hacienda nostalgia. Happy Mondays, Mike Pickering & Primal Scream-esque sounds in a joyous throwback.
