2010: The Dubstep Revolution

By AboutToBlow @AboutToBlowBlog · On January 11, 2010

If the noughties concluded itself as the time the nation stood up to Simon Cowell and his mega-bucks to break away from the spoonfed, uninspiring sounds of another christmas number one, it atleast left us with new genre’s to sacrifice time to.

It started with garage, the UK scene (led by the Artful Dodger, DJ Luck & Mc Neat etc) equated to an evolution based around a futuristic ‘dance’ sound overpowered by London MC’s who told us we were “lovin’ it lovin’ it lovin’ it”. At times they were right, the sound came through with instant success.

Flash forward past the Garage, Grime, UKG, Bassline, Electro and ofcourse Drum & Bass and we’r left with a deeper, bass-infused evolution that crams all the previous into a blender to create a sound for the future.

Love it or hate it, Dubstep is coming (if you didnt already know). With South London’s finest Caspa working as protagonist alongside a cast featuring Rusko, Benga, Noisia, N-Type but to name a few. Whether you know it or not, its head-nodding atmospheric tone’s will be filling your ears soon. For now check out D’Lex’s ‘taster’ mixtape – and let the 2-step rhythms take over.
