The year is coming to a close and we at AboutToBlow have decided to look back on a great year of music.
To sum up 2013:
- There is some great electronic music being made; labels such as Hyperdub are doing some amazing things and we have awarded their artists with multiple spots on our ‘Top 50 albums’ list.
- The shock factor is still relevant in the world of music. Miley Cyrus leads the way on this front; we’ve seen her twerk, ride a wrecking ball and do all sorts of unholy things.
- Kanye West is a moron.
- Gangster rap is still cool. Chief Keef has been smoking weed and shooting guns on probation; he, as well as other rappers such as Gucci, are continually being incarcerated, whilst those on the outside are glorifying trappin’ (thanks A$AP Ferg).

1. ……………………………………………. NOTHING WAS THE SAME
Nice work from the Arctic Monkeys with their ‘AM’ project this year. We heard it was good, but we didn’t listen to it.
Nothing Action Bronson released could be classified as an album, so we regrettably couldn’t put him on the list.
And as for Eminem, Justin Timberlake and Tinie Tempah; whilst popular, their efforts were so poor this year, they were disregarded entirely.
Come back to us January 1st for our ‘Albums of 2014′ list.
