Outlook Festival is Europe’s award-winning showcase of music inspired by soundsystem culture. Returning for 2013, its sixth year and undoubtedly its biggest yet this time armed with a simply incredible line-up featuring some of the best live acts and DJs across Hip-Hop, House, Bass & ofvcourse the traditional Drum ‘n’ Bass and Dubstep spectrums its traditionally recognised for. Taking place in Croatia in the beautiful scenery of a 19th century fort, the setting is utterly unparalleled and revellers can party either on land or at sea, surrounded by unspoilt coastlines, glorious sunshine and the crystal blue waters of the Adriatic Sea.
Outlook is the leading festival for Bass music in Europe and has grown from strength to strength since its launch in 2008 whilst retaining all the elements and beliefs that make it stand out from other European festivals. Eclectic without losing sight of its identity, Outlook boasts live acts and DJ sets which span ages, generations, styles and decades in a multitude of interesting and unique venues including an abandoned fort, a dungeon, a courtyard, a moat and a harbour which cumulatively is exactly why we have made Outlook our number one priority this summer. For anyone with a taste for Bass much Its quite simply an unmissable event that blows it’s competition out the water.
The Line Up
One of the most critically successful rappers of all time, legendary headliner Mos Def has gained a wealth of praise having spearheaded the 90s Hip-Hop movement alongside fellow Outlook performer Talib Kweli and DJ Hi-Tek as part of super-group Black Star. On the Deviation stage they will be joined by Jay Electronica whose cultural insight and lyrical dexterity has seen him compared to Hip-Hop heavyweights Nas and Common and Brooklyn born rising star Joey Bada$$ who, for us, is up there with the most anticipated performances of the festival. In what will be one of the most rounded hip-hop line-ups to have ever been pieced together, there will be a special performance from veterans The Pharcyde who recently celebrated 20 years in the game and are universally revered. Outlook will also be welcoming back conscious Hip-Hop icon Pharoahe Monch, whose memorable performance back in 2011 proved to be one of the festival highlights of that year.
Dubstep figureheads Digital Mystikz will also be returning to Croatia, alongside Swamp 81 head honcho Loefah and Nonplus record label boss Boddika who alongside the recognised Swamp team put on an absolutely killer boat party last time out (see video here for proof). Away from the realms of Dub & Reggae there’s now an established roster of House & Techno talent on offer who have helped spearhead Outlook’s continually shifting musical landscape. Joining the musical dots of Soul, Funk, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Reggae and Dubstep will be Glaswegian party-starter Jackmaster alongside favourites of ours including Dusky, Koreless, Applebottom, Eliphino, Ossie, Mickey Pearce & Zed Bias to name but a small few. Warp’s finest Rustieand the Godfather of Garage Todd ‘The God’ Edwards will also be in attendance alongside the YouTube’s extremely popular collective Eton Messy .

As well as the on-site ready made campsite that the majority opt for, festival goers are able to stay in one of the reasonably priced hotels and apartments in the city of Pula and surrounding villages. Additionally, low-cost flights regularly travel to and from Pula or nearby city Trieste with taxis and buses providing easy travel to and from the festival campsite. With beach parties and boat parties conveniently located a stone’s throw from the campsite and main festival site, revellers can party from dusk till dawn, on land or at sea, without having to negotiate long distances or incur any further travel costs.
With a 1km stretch of beach & over 400 acts on offer look out for AboutToBlow as we’ll be on location documenting all the action along the way. Just two weeks remain so make sure you cop a ticket before there all gone!
