It’s a Stunning Release Perfect for James Blake fans
Filled with touches of electronica through the prism of lush, emotional songwriting – the new EP from Berlin-based artist LIAS is one of our favourite releases of this week. Lyrically the project explores and unpacks the artists own issues with mental health, but the production throughout the project is the key thing we love about this. Pure indie-electronica perfect for fans of SOHN, James Blake or Bon Iver
The rising songwriter and musical obsessive, enjoyed an upbringing mostly surrounded by classical music. His early forays led to classical vocal training at a young age, as well as performances on some of the world’s greatest stages as a boy’s choir soloist. Eventually, his desire to break free from the conservatism of his upbringing led to crafting his own artistic prowess, creating his own independent label and releasing his deeply affecting music to the world.
“Making yourself vulnerable is scary. But I realized, the second you open up about what bothers you, you’re not only helping yourself, but you’re also offering something to other people to connect to. And that’s exactly what I want to do with my songs. Knowing that you’re not alone already offers relief. And after all, the fear of vulnerability is outweighed by the beauty of connection.”
