Berlin’s Julien Bracht Explores Trance & techno Fusion on ‘Across The Ocean’

By AboutToBlow @AboutToBlowBlog · On July 22, 2022

It’s an ode to an emotive and euphoric era of rave

Berlin-based producer Julien Bracht has an extensive and impressive CV in music. Having been part of electronica group Lea Porcelain, he managed to perform for infamous online platform COLORS. He also toured Europe and landed an official remix for Grimes. Since then, he’s took his production skills solo and has developed a unique, melodic and melancholic techno sound that’s quickly becoming revered.

Taken from his forthcoming EP ‘Flower Rave’. Released on the 22nd of July via System Records, Across The Ocean demonstrates love for euphoric, ecstasy-driven moments in the context of thunderous techno rhythms. Composed on the Prophet 6, Across The Ocean brings together his ability to create emotion and euphoria in a scene that is emphatic with rave energy.

Across The Ocean is a gentle dance track that demonstrates Bracht’s impressive ability to develop a song from start to finish. Beginning with a classic techno beat that builds alongside a thumping four-to-the-floor kick drum, ATO quickly develops from an energetic dance track into a euphoric and atmospheric sound of synth pads, reverbs, delays and distant sounds often found in a Todd Terje track.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the new single, Julien states:

“After my debut album I went back to the studio to create something that would really work on raves, something with that pure ecstatic feel of ‚STREETS’ or ‚MELANCHOLIA’ – ‘Across The Ocean’ was the outcome of that inspiration. I worked in my new studio in Spain, where I spent a lot of time during the last year, with my favorite gear, the Prophet 6, as main instrument. In ‚Across the Ocean’ the Bassline moves through the track like a train rumble and gives the basis of emotion, while the main melody, made with the SH 101 gives the sparkle on the top end. Sitting in the studio, with a view -Across The Ocean- I finished this track in a couple of days and really felt, this would be my first single after a short break after the last release. I really hope you guys enjoy it and I can’t wait to hear it in all of your sets! Love, Julien. “
