So its fair to say the UK rave scene is very much at a high right about now. New Artists, Producers, DJs, Labels but fundamentally Genre’s have been blowing up left, right and centre, and in anticipation for tonight’s Monthly D&B mash-up ‘Detonate’ at Nottingham club Stealth it felt apt to highlight two cuts I’ve been rinsing lately.
First up, Dutch maestro Lenzman has steadily emerged as one of Drum & Bass’ finest Liquid producers over the past two years. Influenced by Hiphop, Soul and Jazz Lenzman’s music combines the organic grooves of yesteryears with the fluidity and forward thinking attitude of Drum & Bass music.
More recently this particular track has been cropping up on numerous set’s across the country, featuring a classic sample from an early piece of Donell Jones material its smooth style is equally uplifting and frantic enough to get the party started. A sound not to dissimilar to Break & Die’s “Bright Lights”, this ones a certified crowd pleaser.
A salute to you Lenzman.
NEXT UP :- DISTANCE
True followers of the Dubstep movement will already know about DJ Distance, one of the many to spawn from the South London region (Benga, Skream & Caspa to name a few all reside from SE/SW postal codes) he is a producer, DJ and label owner whos hypnotic vibe has more recently seen newest tune ‘Falling’ really push him into the A-List realm of Dub DJ’s.
For regular listeners of Mistajams (BBC Radio 1xtra) Daily Dose of Dubstep you would’ve heards this oen crop up in the mix at some point over the past few months. Featuring Alys Blaze on vocals, ‘Falling’ is a track I’ve been backing for a while now, and most definitly deserves some widespread support. Quite simply, Dench.
