Since emerging onto the scene with his first release in 1999, Simon Green has developed a unique, genre-defying strand of organic electronica. Known by his production alias Bonobo, this talented British artist is about to release his fifth studio album The North Borders. And it is quite simply excellent.
Moreover, the album has an almost perfect flow to it as it progresses through tracks such as Jets, reminiscent of Shlomo’s‘Places’ and almost hiphop-instrumental-esque, and ends with the addictive track entitled Pieces featuring the beautiful vocals of Cornelia. Often even Bonobo’s song titles add to his artistic nature; Heaven for the sinner features the high profile Neo-Soul legend Erykah Badu and holds with it almost a feeling of retribution in its melody, relating back to its title.
The album is also available to stream in its entirety now over at KCRW.
