In terms of timescale London Duo Aluna Francis & George Ried have taken an almost identical path. “Blending soulful harmonies with a subtle electro-fused edge” were our thoughts back in October 2011 when ‘You Know You Like It’ dropped, and the AlunaGeorge bandwagon has gone from strength to strength ever since.
Its difficult not to get carried away when you hear of two rising stars collaborating and considering Disclosure hit the fringes of the Top 10 with ‘Latch’ in October, topping the iTunes’ Electronic chart and going Gold in Australia. AlunaGeorge also recieved their share of accolades, being crowned second place on the BBC Sound Of 2013 as well as a string of reputable Live Lounge sessions and a national tour to top it off it’s all left us ready for big things for the year ahead.
With news of a single on the cards always a tantalising prospect, since Zane Lowe dropped ‘White Noise’ last night as his ‘Hottest Record In The World Right Now’ it has clocked up 125,000 plays in little over 13 hours. While Disclosure’s production disseminates an early ’90s R&B vibe with its hyperactive synth and typically snappy drums, Francis’ ethereal falsetto vocals ooze serious sex appeal.
