The East London Producer Gets To Grips with Samples..
Showcasing a dab hand with his use of northern soul samples and a classic house vocal – East London producer FNP has just shared a summer-ready anthem in the form of ‘Bad Habit Train’. Rich in dusty, vinyl crackle and plenty of hints to old disco, it’s an incredibly well executed edit with interweaving vocal sections throughout.
Expertly blending organic and vintage soul samples across a powerful contemporary 4X4 drum pattern, ‘Bad Habit Train’ is a shamelessly feel-good piece of disco. Speaking on the new single he states:
I’ve always loved a disco edit. Cutting up samples from old soul and jazz records is such a creative way to work, as long as you can add something to truly make it your own. Some of my absolute favourite tracks are made from old, crusty samples from an old vinyl dug out from your cupboard, reborn into something new. That’s what i’ve tried to do with ‘Bad Habit Train’
