The Bristol-Based Producer Shares A Soulful New Mixtape..
Fast rising to be one of the biggest genres of the new decade, thanks to the rise in playlists – LoFi and Instrumental Hip Hop is a behemoth genre in the contemporary music market. One of the rising stars of the genre, is Bristol producer Ile Flottante, a producer with a very particular skillset with sampling and MPC control.
Growing up in Aberystwyth, Flottante’s life revolved around skating and music. Heavily inspired by L.A artists such as Flying Lotus, SAMIYAM, Ras G, Daedalus and Mndsgn, he later moved to Leeds where he honed his musical craft and later Bristol, where he became a staple of the vibrant UK Hip Hop scene in the city. He’s since releases a number of projects with notable labels including Soulful Chemistry, Vinyl Digital, Hip-Dozer and X3i Records, who are the home of the new EP ‘The Others’.
It’s a project very much based on the Mixtape style which is synonymous with the genre. Rich with elements of Jazz & Soul, it’s a project full of glorious imperfections and melancholic moments. Speaking on the new project, Flottante mysteriously states:
“Living in the post-disclosure age, we must prepare for the imminent arrival of our galactic brothers and sisters.
As part of that preparation, these tracks are my beacon for interplanetary collaboration.
Do not be afraid, they are just like us.
This project is for them…the others.”
