Steel drums are back in a big way if Jamie Smith of the XX has anything to say on the subject.
Its been a long time coming (just shy of a year infact) but Glaswegian Label Numbers have finally given the masses what they’ve craved for and released the soul-drenched, euphoric vibe of Far Nearer on 12 inch alongside the massively hyped Beat For, two tracks which for any Future House fan you’ll undoubtedly have heard at any Jamie XX set during 2011.
Throughout its 8 minute duration, Far Nearer typifies the production qualities Jamie XX possesses and the odds of this being thrown down as a quintessential summer jam are somewhat inevitable. The emotional bar is certainly increasing with every single of Jamie XX thus far, including the B-side Bear For which correctly enforces his position on the Electronic Radar right up there alongside James Blake, Joy Orbison and the like.
Smooth vibes going off in a big way.
