Duo Jay + Max release their debut single ‘Octopus’ accompanied by official music video
Singer-songwriter, producer and visual animation duo Jay + Max share their new debut single ‘Octopus’. The brand new single sees Jay + Max produce a catchy indie-pop track driven by bouncy synths melodies, intricate soundscapes, sparse drums and infectious vocal lines, before erupting into a class rock and country-leaning chorus driven by thumping drums and distorted rhythm guitars. Jay + Max have created a unique visual for the single blending animated wildlife and animals with musical instruments. The duo offer an exciting new reality and a fresh sound by creating their own visual animations and soundtracks to it.
“Neither of us knew how to do animation, so we had to spend a while learning how to use Blender and various other programs to get it off the ground. Then after we started we found out that Pixar spent years animating their octopus in Finding Dory. We did wonder whether we’d bitten off more than we could chew at that point, and we sometimes wished we’d picked an animal that didn’t have eight legs! We love how it’s turned out now though, and that we made it ourselves.”
