The Norwegian Dup have Shares The Sound of Summer
Alt-pop & electronic risers Jimmy Smash have been working tirelessly on their stunning new EP ‘Home’ which has dropped this month. Full of effervescent alt-pop bangers that are perfectly build for summer nights and afternoons at the beach.
Jimmy Smash’s undefinable brand of genre-blending sees them extract inspiration from all across the music spectrum – from the playful hip hop kicks of Tribe Called Quest, J Dilla and The Roots, to the heavier, more sinister realms of thrash metal. Those truly eclectic influences present themselves in the form of upbeat gems that ride on expansive electronic arrangements as vibrant and colourful as a late, hazy sunset.
The project starts with the incredibly catchy, hook-driven bop that is ‘Misguided’. It’s followed by a similarly vibey anthem ‘August’, before heading to lower tempos with ‘Over’ and ‘Under’. Speaking on the new EP they state:
“For us personally, ‘HOME’ is a symbol of full creative freedom and that we have found our way back to the mindset we had in the beginning where we made music for our own ears.”
