British-Mauritian songstress Lavaud has dropped the official video for her track ‘Fast Lane’.
Tapping into the sensual energy of the track itself, the stunning official video for ‘Fast Lane’, produced by CallMeTheKid (Etta Bond, Hardy Caprio, One Acen) and directed by renowned Brightish-Nigerian filmmaker Christina Nwabugo, sees Lavaud and her partner share intimate moments while driving through the stunning Jamaican landscape in a luxury car.
“Fast Lane is about freedom.” Lavaud explains. “Exploring and pushing the boundaries of intimacy, and letting go of all your fears and reservations for that special one whose captivated you. It’s about having fun, being careless and experiencing the joys of spontaneous romance, and where it unknowingly leads. This track focuses on what really matters. Living and being in the moment, something I try to live and breathe every day”
‘Fast Lane’ first featured on Lavaud’s debut EP ‘King Vaud’, an acclaimed release with over 3 million global streams across all platforms that was supported by BBC Radio 1Xtra, Capital 1Xtra, Complex, GRM Daily and OkayAfrica amongst others. Online platform Demur described the record as “evidence of an artist brimming with creative allure and sensual energy”.
Hailing from Hackney, East London, Lavaud cites the likes of Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin and Beyonce as inspirations for her sound. She received recognition from the MOBO Awards ‘Next Up’ for single ‘Pictures’ before scoring a US ‘Top 20’ urban radio hit with ‘Deep’ and, more recently, dropped ‘In This Room’ – an acoustic single that she wrote, produced and recorded from her bedroom during lockdown that was playlisted by YouTube Music, Apple Music and Tidal amongst others.
Something of a 2021 breakout star, the stunning official video for ‘Fast Lane’ sees Lavaud continue her rise.
