Prolific Manchester Jazztronica talent Layfullstop has unveiled a slick visual for brand-new single ‘Act Right’.
Harnessing a smooth, bossa nova R&B vibe, ‘Act Right’ pairs slick, downbeat production with Layfullstop’s effortless vocals. Shot across her native Manchester by Aim Films, the accompanying official video provides the perfect visual backdrop for this exciting artist. ‘Act Right’ represents Lay showcasing her production skills, having produced the instrumental herself as she did several of the tracks on ‘STiR’. It also follows on from recent single ‘Building Buildings’, a collaboration with Japanese artist Kzyboost.
On its creation, Lay explains: “This song is an evolution of a song I made 6+ years ago and wanted to make it relevant to where I am currently in my journey. I also created this song to merge the uplifting and chilled atmosphere that bossa nova brings with the internal battle of constantly wanting to do the right thing.”
With two mixtapes and two EPs under her belt, Layfullstop is an independent artist who has built a name for herself by creating soulful music that melds rap and r&b with a purpose. With her Christian faith as the driving force, her music holds deeper sentiments consisting of realness, hope and hardships. Whilst Lay is no stranger to production, she teases a new seriousness to the craft, elevating her music to higher heights and contributing even more to the eclectic Layfullstop sound.
Supported by The Independent, The Line Of Best Fit, GRM Daily, DUMMY, Noctis and The Blues Project, she previously featured on fellow Mancunians Children Of Zeus’ album Travel Light on ‘Fear of a Flat Planet’ and dropped an acclaimed COLORS broadcast. Having previously headlined London’s Hootenanny and Manchester’s The Yard, looking ahead, she will perform at a PRS Music event in Manchester, with more shows in the pipeline for 2023.
One of the most exciting artists emerging from the North West, ‘Act Right’ is a statement of intent from Layfullstop.
