Soulful and Jazz-tinged Summer Vibes
Both artists originally from the sunny shores of Italy, before relocating to London – both Palmaria and Loelash have been making waves in the vibrant neo-soul and Jazz scene in the capital. Having worked together on remixes and one-off projects before, ‘Somebody New’ is their first full collaboration. Taken from Loelash’s upcoming alum, it’s a glorious piece of summer-ready Jazztronica.
First learning to play the Saxophone a 9 years old, Loelash’s musical journey has been one of trying new things, experimentation and taking music technology to it’s limits. Speaking on the creation of the track, Loelash states:
“As musicians and artists, overcoming our fears and insecurities may be the hardest challenge,” explains Loelash. “Somebody New is a positive message to whoever is ready to accept evolution as the birth of a new era, especially during these challenging times.”
Telling us more about the writing and recording processes, he continues: “I actually made the beat some time before, right after I came back from touring the UK as a supporting act for Anomalie. That’s when I realised I was going to make my debut album, and the energy during those sessions was unmatched. I’m so glad I was able to keep that energy alive within me and take it to Italy a few months later, when Francesco and Giulia were in the middle of writing and recording their EP, so already in a creative space. They loved the music and had the idea for the chorus straight away – a couple of days later we were already refining the sounds and structure. The recordings were made in less than 48 hours.”
