Enigmatic London-based songwriter JYLDA returns with a leftfield, dark homage to ‘Risk’ in her powerful new single ‘Jeopardy’. Showcasing her fearless songwriting style, it’s a track that draws on nuanced, genre-less production.
JYLDA (real name Gianna Gehlhar) has been traveling Europe experiencing different musical cultures to build her own unique sound. Growing up in Germany, she’s spent periods of her life living in California and now resides in London, where she’s curated a spellbinding live show. She launched her project with the 2019 EP twitch, an effervescent collection of experimental-pop tracks that were praised by the likes of Clash Magazine and Kaltblut. Complementing the release, she then dropped two outstanding visual accompaniments for ‘Torrential River’ and ‘Reeled’, both outlining the complete creative vision that JYLDA has for her art.
The new single ‘Jeopardy’ was produced in collaboration with classical composer Marino Arcaro, throughout the track you can hear each artists daring influence. Building from a wonky, two-step drum beat the track slowly introduces lush synth layers with an incredibly intricacy.
“Jeopardy is a hymn to danger. Can you still take risks now, can you still dare, be bold and think big? While stepping back from our old life, we can change and unapologetically express ourselves. This song is a call for audacity — in life, in love and in creativity.”
