It’s a Funk-Rich Project with Hints to 80’s Nostalgia
We’ve been a fan of U.S Songwriter Magsy since he dropped ‘Noisy Mind’ earlier this year, he’s an artist with a unique style and pastiche for 80’s synth expression throughout his upbeat pop music. Earlier this month, the talented newcomer dropped his full ep ‘Brite Nite’, and we’ve been instantly hooked. Released via AWAL Recordings, it’s a journey through the talented artists catalogue of sounds and styles.
Born into a biracial family, Magsy has experienced questions of belonging and often felt isolated due to not neatly defined fitting into societal roles. Writing songs from the age of 14 enabled him to channel his thoughts and feelings with the desire to create music that accurately reflected his personal experiences. His undeniable talent was nurtured by an attitude focused on hard work. His early years were spent working in construction, developing an appreciation for graft and a love for creation.
Funny enough, I think that construction has made me a better musician as I believe my two hands are just as capable as any. As an indie artist, I’m asked to fill a lot of roles when creating and releasing music. Making tik toks and marketing myself brought me back to the first time my father handed me a power tool while balancing on a ladder. You learn quickly that getting good at one thing will lead you to believe you can get good at another.
“ After everything we all went though over the last two years I wanted to put out a project everyone could dance to with their loved ones and then have a completely different one when listening alone. ” – Magsy
