Micheal Sebastian is set to release his new melodic, synth-house styled track ‘Duma’ on the 21st of July. The multi-genre musician’s new single is the second from his fourth album ‘Kadako’, which demonstrates how the South African-born electronic musician develops his musical practises into heartfelt, dance floor ready productions.
Begging with a steady building intro that shows nostalgia in its finest form, Duma is a track that develops distant sounds with ease. It shares similar feelings often felt from a Bicep or Floating points track – minimalist sounds that develop from start to finish, creating a wicked sense of nostalgia. It’s easy to see how Sebastian had inspiration from Fatima Yahama and Floating Points throughout the creation of Duma. It’s a deep dive into analog synthesis and an ambitious exploration of reverbs and harmonizing vocals.
Written during the covid-19 outbreak in 2020, Duma channels the frustration of a year of closed clubs and venues as well as being stuck in isolation. It’s a track that is set to reignite that feeling amongst crowds.
Duma is set for release on the 21st of July 2022, and is available on all streaming platforms.
