It’s a Track from Her Emphatic New album ‘Ravage’
We’ve always had a soft-spot for the creative musical hub of Berlin – known for swathes of Techno producers and all-night raves, but also home to some of the most creative songwriters on the continent and Mogli certainly falls into that bracket. She’s just dropped her latest album ‘RAVAGE’ alongside a feature-length film which she co-directed and soundtracked, one of the absolute gems from the project is ‘Animal’ – a potent slice of 4×4 electronica in the style of SOHN or Jon hopkins.
The new album and accompanying visual, document her journey through this stage of her life, but also tackle topics that have played important roles for her personally. As a member of the LGBTQ+ Community and growing up with two mums and an Algerian dad, there’s a deep and personal message of feminism and equality throughout the project. Her passion for climate change and sustainability also projects throughout the album, having only worn sustainable fashion for the past 5 years, she has since designed two conscious clothing collections.
“Having been raised by two women, I learned that rejecting patriarchal conventional roles is what makes me happy. It’s empowered me to be who I am regardless of any societal expectations. My dad’s side of the family are North African and have faced constant racism here in Germany so I grew up fighting racism and fascism through any platform I could.” – Mogli
