The Electro-Pop Duo Share an Uplifting New Single
Some of the music coming out of Norway in the past few years has been to an incredible standard. A country that places great importance on the arts and creativity, forms the ideal basis for artists such as Jimmy Smash to thrive. We first caught ear of their unique style with their previous single ‘Under’, which had a similar pop-electronic crossover to Maribou State or Roosevelt – With the new single ‘Over’, they’ve gone full-pop with an uplifting new single.
The pair’s journey began with a stunning cover of the Fleetwood Mac classic ‘Landslide’, before they unveiled their debut single ‘Macadamian’ in 2017. Since then, they’ve racked up over 8 million streams on Spotify, growing their fanbase exponentially worldwide. In their home country, they’ve received regular airplay from Norwegian National station NRK P1 – their 2020 single ‘Say It Again’ was the 5th most played song on Norwegian radio that summer. With a wealth of addictive alt-pop hits to their name and even more to come, the year ahead indeed looks bright for Jimmy Smash.
“Over is about not feeling good enough for someone or that you do not fit in with who you are with. Sometimes it comes to a point that you no longer feel important. The sketch of the song went very slowly forward, and in the beginning it sounded most like the background music you can hear in a massage studio. This song is for anyone who wants a calm start to the morning”
