It’s a Half-Time, Alt-Techno Gem from Jouska
Some of the most exciting electronic music around right now seems to be coming from Norway and Jouska are one of the leading lights in that scene right now. On their last album, they achieved worldwide notoriety including coverage from The Quietus and The Line of Best Fit and they’ve now taken on the reigns of a new single from fellow Norwegian Sola.
The Oslo-based Jouska is a production duo made up of Marit Othilie Thorvik and Hans Olav Settem; after meeting whilst studying music together, the pair were eager to experiment with electronic music for the first time. Blending influences from Gorillaz, The Internet and Sassy 009, Jouska’s genre-bending sound keeps things strictly nostalgic. Combine this with the lofi and electronica elements found in Solå’s original version of ‘Dizzy’, and it’s a one-way street to a killer remix.
Originally released via French label Kitsune, the new version is built from powerful, distorted kicks and warm vocal pads.
