Norwegian outfit Overcity have returned with an emphatic, synth-driven new project “Old School Love”. Full of drum groove and a powerful ode to 80’s pastiche – it’s a lush project that forebodes a new album.
Overcity consists of the talented musicians Fieh, Mall Girl and Tigerstate – or – Ola Øverby(drums), Iver A. Tandsether (guitar) and Christian Franzén (vocals). They describe being inspired by beer, ladies, and joy, all three echoing throughout their warming new tune, “Old School Love”. Carving their own path in the indie-pop space, Overcity record on analogue tape, revealing their dedication to an authentic old-school sound. “Old School Love” captures woozy earworm melodies underscored by catchy clean drumbeats. Starting out softly, it takes an energetic tempo turn, capturing the sweet feeling of being whisked away on a romantic journey.
“Have you ever felt the feeling of being in love? Except you’re also eating breakfast at Tiffanys and singing in the rain at the same time? Then you’ve felt the old school love!! We tried to make a musical painting of Audrey Hepburn, and we hope it also sounds like the dawn of the stone age.” – Overcity
