Looking back to October we brought you an exclusive look at the sleek new, foldable Philips Citicscape headphones. We must admit we are still in love these dynamic ear pieces and once again the good guys at Noisey and Philips are back on our radars with their collaborative project YNTHT (You Need To Hear This). This time, the duo have curated an intimate live music experience via their YouTube channel featuring the likes of DELS, vocalist Kerry Leatham and a string quartet in a tunnel shaft underneath Brunel Museum!
The video showcases upcoming talent from rapper DELS who puts a verse from his track ‘Pulls’ over an otherwise orchestral sound in a truly unique way completely re—inventing his sound. The video starts with his commentary on the collaborative project and praises the forward thinking ideals of both Noisey and Philips who have come together to innovate through sound. ‘Pulls’ is a track his new album “Petals Have Fallen” Originally produced by music maestro and Abouttoblow.com favorite bonobo. Hosted in the antiquated and almost enchanted tunnel shaft, Kerry Leatham’s stunning vocal range harmonises with the strings nicely and the whole performance is really captured well acoustically, which is something Philips are really trying to push with their newest headphones. DELS is signed to Big dada home to the likes of grime pioneer Wiley, Canadian grime and hiphop artist Tre Mission, Mercury Prize Winners Young Fathers and one of the most acclaimed and forward thinking collaborative revolution in hip-hop’s recent years ‘Run The Jewels’.
If like us, you’re planning on using the Citicscape headphones ‘on the go’ they will soon become a your staple listening equipment for portable performance. They are the perfect for using in between activities and a great way to really get a feel for the dynamic capabilities of the performance above in a portable way without compromising on sound quality. The headphones are aesthetically pleasing, effortlessly practical and detachable with anti-tangle fabric cable around the base. If you get a pair of these make sure to listen to DELS’s new album forthcoming on Big Dada. Once again props to Noisey and Philips for finding new and innovative ways to promote their products, we look forward to more things in the future from these guys.
