It’s a Statement of Intent From One of The Most Exciting Names in UK Rap
Raised in Ladbroke Grove on a strict musical diet, London artist and all-round creative Posh is fast making a name for himself on the Grime and UK Hip Hop scene. He appeared on our musical radar last year with his fierce UK Drill anthem ‘Man Down’ and is continuing the rich vein of form with the powerful new single ‘This Year’. It’s a track brimming with confidence, stating a list of the young talents goals for the next year, ambitious for a calendar opposing the depressing state of 2020.
The son of a Russian immigrant and a working-class mother from Essex, Posh grew up in a house that celebrated all types of music. For Posh, music is all about perspective. Even his name is a product of the frustration he faced growing up. “I’ve always had a chip on my shoulder,” he says, “I looked a certain way, sounded a certain way, and I was surrounded by certain people, but I didn’t have all the advantages those people had.”
The new single ‘This Year’ showcases an artist with big ambitions and the talent to back it up. The track wastes no time in launching into Posh’s infectious lyrical flow, building and addressing Posh’s goals to the backdrop of a visceral production.
