Luton born songwriter and performer SK & The Kings has released her new flavorsome single ‘Someday’. A track which seamlessly blends elements of modern jazz with R&B in an authentic style. Raised on the sounds of Aretha Franklin and Donny Hathaway, there’s no surprise how her music runs alongside soul and jazz with a modern neo-soul twist.
Throughout the track, gentle drums, beautiful vocal stacks provide an eccentric and unique jazz element to a pop track like never before. Its deep rooted meaning explores the support that a close friend or a partner can provide in dark situations, she writes “Someday is a love letter to myself. For as long as I can remember I have suffered with my mental health; dark days that lead to dark weeks and sometimes months. This song is about hope, reassuring myself that I’m not on my own in how I feel and showing other people they’re not alone either – we’re connected even in our despair. There is light, there is hope, not every day is a diamond but we have to know those feelings won’t last forever and that someday, it will be better.
