“He’s what you want, he’s what you want…I’m what you need what you need what you need…”
There’s little in the way of background information for what we understand to be ‘The Weeknd’, in fact its fair to acknowledge that the project itself is predominantly shrouded in secrecy. What we can concur from all the buzz that’s steadily generating is Hip-Hop lothario Drake may be the biggest supporter out there after declaring his admiration for the newly available “House of Balloons” mixtape via Twitter.
Drake’s backing may be in some way understandable given that the mystery duo hail from Toronta, Canada, with the sound itself not being too dissimilar from his recent smash “In The Morning”. The buzz behind the duo is interesting given the musical style being somewhat decipherable to the more familiar Dubstep sound thats now fully established on UK shores, so with that in mind maybe theirs life in the Dubstep movement on International shores as yet?
Croydons Dubstep heads Benga & Skream have already thrown their backing behind this number “What You Need” by giving it a first play on their In New DJ’s We Trust Radio 1 slot, and the vibe of this track is smooth to say the least. After previously singing the praises of ‘Distance’s “Falling”, that old-skool R&B feel can definitly be felt and maybe we could throw this into that ‘Lovestep‘ bracket that Two Inch Punch recently got a lot of love for?
Either way the “House of Balloons” Mixtape is available as a free download now & its more than worth a listen.

Its interesting to note that this NSFW 80’s-feel Video has officially dropped and its hardly gained the full-backing by the R&B Duo it must’ve hoped for. They actually tweeted a link to what they deemed to be the “real” video, which has since been removed from YouTube due to their policy on Nudity & Sexual Content. Pretty amusing to say the least…
