The Neo-Classical and Ambient Producer Returns with Some of his Best Work
All-round creative force and ambient legend Tom Ashbrook today shares his gorgeous new EP ‘ko:da’ – A collection of tracks that showcase the artists unique ability for ambient, emotive songwriting with pure elegance and class. Classically trained on piano from the age of 5, Tom Ashbrook grew up with an obsession with the emotion and songwriting mystique in film soundtracks.
An EP that sits as a journey, rather than a collection of individual tracks, ‘ko:da’ – showcases Ashbrook’s ability to glide through classical piano-driven tracks, to ambient constructs. The second track from the EP features guest vocalist Faroese singer-songwriter Greta Svabo Bech on ‘tu ː orbit’. The pair combine to create an emotionally rich, delicate blend of Ashbrook’s signature classical influence with Greta’s ethereal tones. Tom has also collaborated with Berlin based award winning artist Robot Koch in a haunting re-work of ‘Klass’.The EP closes with a peaceful piano-led title track ‘ko:da’, one that transcends listeners into deep relaxation and comfort.
Speaking on the EP, Ashbrook states:
“I wanted to create a conclusion to ‘Klass’ as a concept based around the beautiful film MISSUXO shot by Marcell Lobenwein. Revealing it as an acronym and true meaning…”Knowing Love And Still Suffering’. This EP extends and elaborates the thematic material and I’d like to say thank you to Robot Koch and Greta Svabo Bech who has connected with the piece and made it their own. ”
