The new single is a soulful, jazz-tinged tribute to a lost friend
Based in the U.S but raised in Cameroon, Hip-Hop artist Armstrong makes a point to reference and pay homage to the legends in his new single ‘For You’. Making use of soulful, jazz-tinged samples over a groove-rich beat, puts us in mind of Gangstarr or J Cole. laced in jazzy, vintage piano chords and clean guitar licks – It’s a track that show’s Armstrong’s authenticity in the scene, paying homage to his friend Toyyib, who passed away.
Over the past few years, Armstrong has been honing and developing his craft to the point where he’s creating some of the most masterful, authentic new Hip Hop around. The new single is a perfect example of how he looks to the past, to create something uniquely relevant in the present.
